While awaiting #TriggerTuesdays, I thought I would post here about something that’s necessity yet no where near the sexy part of anything. When I became a green beret I had my expectations of “war” high. I’ve seen a lot of movies, I KNOW how this goes…
I could not have been further from the truth. In fact their was one firefight where I clearly shouted back at the enemy “The movies fuckin lied!” I was highly upset that the enemy could not shoot worth a shit. Later in my wisdom I realize that was a good thing but I grew up with world war II movies and to me THAT was war. I wanted the “sexy” but I didn’t. I just didn’t know I didn’t want the sexy.
When it comes to these workouts I am doing it follows the same thing. I want the quick results, I want the sexy. When I ask you about supplements what is the first thing to come to mind? PROTEIN! yes exactly.
I had a co-worker ask me Friday what I was doing to get my results. I was in the middle of some work and I did not really give him a fair answer. I said “I found some supplements that help with my diet and I been hitting the gym hard. Now had I not been “in the zone” I would have pulled back and given a better answer. One more like this one…
What are you doing?
My answer is complicated because I changed many things at the same time. I started taking muti-vitamin pack. It’s not just vitamins but it’s a bunch of little things your body needs including vitamins and veggies, you know all the things that we don’t eat because we’re men. It’s called “Micro Factor“ and it’s split into daily packs.
I cannot say enough good things about this. Prior to these I was literally having to pull over on the drive in to work, in order to walk around to wake the fuck up. I am on so many friggin meds and many of them say the “may make you drowsy” that I was constantly fighting sleep. The biggest change to me is the fact that I can now stay awake and focus on what the hell I am doing. Just taking these extra daily pack of nutrients has given me a whole new ability to keep up with life. I have been able to keep a scheduled workout nearly daily except when I cannot get to the gym on my regular time because of work. I have the ability to focus and am taking online classes. I feel like I’m able to keep up on this.
As boring as vitamins and basic nutrients are I will be adding these to my grocery budget monthly. You got to take care of the basics before you can hit all the sexy stuff. The top thing I will point out to everyone of how I’m making these changes is I am giving my body the things it needs that I never have time to eat.
